You will meet your guide in the city near the port, to take a bus or car to the cemetery together. Your guide will then take you through the very big cemetery and show you the most beautiful and interesting graves, and share with you the stories of important or fascinating people buried there. • Grave of Joan Mirò: world-renowned early abstract artist • Buenaventora Durruti: legendary anarchist revolutionary is buried • The Batlló Family (of the Gaudí House) • Ildefons Cerdà: city planner who designed the revolutionary gridded streets of Barcelona • Exquisite sculptures of divine angels and creepy skeletons • Isaac Albéniz: world famous composer and pianist • Carlos Ruiz Safron, author of Shadow of the Wind is buried in Montjuic Cemetery as well and we will visit his grave on the tour. What is the cemetery on the hill coming from the airport to Barcelona? Why do Spanish cemeteries have the above ground walls with the square graves? The only English language Montjuic graveyard tour in Barcelona. Off he beaten path: one of the least visited, non touristy things to do in Barcelona. You will also visit the 'Fossar de la Pedrera', one of the few memorial sites in Barcelona for the victims of the dictatorship during and after the Spanish Civil War. At the end of the tour you will take the car or bus back to the city with your guide.
